Okay, for the sake of this article, let’s just say that December 25th, 2012 was a real "White Christmas", even though it really wasn’t in my sincere opinion. It was more of a snow flurry that didn’t even last through midmorning. By lunchtime, there was no evidence that it had even snowed earlier in the day.

The data that I have been given by the National Weather Service office for 2012 was that it was more freezing rain and only a "point one" inch of snow had fallen in Abilene on December 25, 2012, in the predawn hours.

However, if you take a look at the historical data and the real numbers from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) out of San Angelo, also known as the National Weather Service office. The last real white Christmas that fell in Abilene was December 25, 1987.

That was a year to remember forever, it was unbelievable. I / Abilene woke up to 1.5 inches of snow on the ground, and it remained there for the next three days.

A snowfall like that in Abilene had not happened seen since the late 1940s. Although, earlier this year we had what many people are calling the "snowpocalypse" or "snowmageddon" and while that was a week of subfreezing temperatures and some of the worst weather I have ever experienced in my life.

This year's storm doesn't count because it didn’t fall in the month of December and does not count for being a real white Christmas. Since it's been 34 years since our last "real white Christmas" I think it's time for another.

So, the one source that I always check with is the Old Farmers Almanac, and they're saying that we might be in for an ice-cold snowy season (check out the video below).

The Almanac is predicting light rain from December 23rd through the 31st. The first snowfall, according to the Old Farmers Almanac will happen from January 1st through the 4th, and the real snowstorm won't happen until February 1st through the 7th, 2022.

The NOAA and the Almanac both agreed that "precipitation will be below normal in the Lone Star State this year. Snowfall will be near normal, with the best chances for snow in early and late January. With this last-minute warning that April and May will be warmer than normal.

So if we want snow for Christmas we might want to head to Wisconsin, because it's the snowiest state in America this year. In the meantime, Merry Christmas y'all.
