Meet Trevor Underwood: Texas’ Next Red Dirt Star

When Trevor Underwood stepped into the studio with nothing but a guitar and a story, I had no idea I was about to cry like a baby. But that’s exactly what happened when he sang the first song he ever wrote for his wife. I’ve been programming radio stations for over four decades, and mark my words, this 35-year-old is destined to be a Texas Red Dirt Country Music legend.

It All Started with “Daddy, Sing Me a Song”

Trevor didn’t even pick up a guitar until six years ago, when his two-year-old daughter made a simple request: “Daddy, sing me a song.” That moment sparked a fire in him. He ran out, bought a used guitar, and started teaching himself to play. Before long, songs began pouring out of him, raw, heartfelt, and honest.

A Life That Writes the Lyrics

Raised in a tough season by a single mom who gave him strength, and later adopted by a stepdad who taught him what being a real man looks like, Trevor’s story is the kind that turns pain into poetry. He’s lived through enough to write a lifetime of songs, and he has. Over 100 in just the last year.

The Small Circle Is Growing Fast

Trevor’s music has already streamed in 86 countries, and he’s played nearly 100 shows in a year, from backyard gigs to festivals with 10,000 fans. He’s got that rare thing, a voice that makes you feel something and lyrics that stop you in your tracks.

If you haven’t heard of Trevor Underwood yet, you will. And when you do, remember you heard it here first. Do yourself a favor, watch and listen to the interview with his daughter and my radio interview above.
