Every summer, my family starts asking the same question:

"Daddy, where are we going this year?"

Over the years, we've visited some incredible places across Texas, including Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, which rightfully holds the title as the largest water park in the Lone Star State.

But after raising five daughters and three sons, I learned something pretty important.

Not every kid wants the same vacation.

Some want to spend all day floating on a lazy river (that's me), or racing down giant water slides. Others would rather challenge themselves by climbing a rock wall, soaring on a zip line, or trying something they've never done before.

That's exactly why Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures in New Caney has become one of my favorite Texas family destinations.

More Than Just a Water Park

The first thing you'll notice is the water attractions.

There's a giant wave pool, twisting water slides, a relaxing lazy river, and, without question, one of my favorite attractions, the giant inflatable lake obstacle course.

I could have spent hours watching my kids race across it, laughing every time someone slipped into the water.

But that's only part of what makes this place special.

Adventure Around Every Corner

When everyone was ready for a break from the water, the fun didn't stop.

Big Rivers also offers rock climbing walls, zip lines, aerial adventure courses, axe throwing, archery, carnival rides, and even a petting zoo where you can get surprisingly close to some incredible animals, including an alligator.

Every member of our family found something they couldn't wait to try.

Watching My Kids Discover They Could

One of my favorite memories had nothing to do with a water slide.

My youngest daughter had never climbed a rock wall before.

The staff patiently showed her what to do, encouraged her the entire way, and before long, she climbed all the way to the top.

Watching her realize she could do something she never thought possible was one of those proud dad moments I'll never forget.

My youngest son made it to the top, stepped onto the platform, and zipped back down with a grin that stretched from ear to ear.

Those are the memories that stay with you.

Hungry? They've Got That Covered Too

With all the running, climbing, swimming, and laughing, eventually everyone gets hungry.

Thankfully, food is never hard to find.

There are plenty of places throughout the park to grab a meal, cool off for a bit, and recharge before heading back out for another adventure.

A Park That Keeps Getting Better

One thing I've always appreciated is that Big Rivers never seems satisfied.

The park continues adding new attractions and experiences, giving families another reason to return year after year.

Honestly, with the way this place keeps growing, I can't wait to see what they build next.

Planning Your Visit

If you're making the drive to New Caney, I'd recommend turning it into a weekend getaway.

You'll find nearby hotels, RV sites, and camping options if you want to stay close to the action.

General admission is typically less expensive when purchased online in advance than at the gate, and season passes are available if you plan to come back. Before you go, it's always worth checking the park's website for current pricing, specials, and seasonal promotions.

Another Fearless Find

Schlitterbahn will always be one of Texas's legendary water parks, and my family still loves going there.

But when someone asks me where they can take the entire family and keep everyone happy, from the water lovers to the thrill seekers, Big Rivers is one of the first places that comes to mind.

Whether your family wants to float a lazy river, conquer a climbing wall, soar on a zip line, tackle an inflatable obstacle course, enjoy carnival rides, or simply spend quality time together, this park offers something for just about everyone.

It's another Fearless Find that helped my family make memories we'll never forget.

Now I'd love to hear from you.

Have you been to Big Rivers, or does your family have another favorite Texas summer destination? Let me know in the comments. I may have to check it out myself.
