Support the Abilene Library at This Big Book Sale
First off, I’d like to share some “Friendly Fearless Advice.” Here goes: Put your phone down and grab one of your favorite books, open it, and read it.
That’s what I like to do when I need a little calm, peace, and quiet in my heart and head. And if you’re having a hard time finding the right book, I’ve got just the event for you, one I attend nearly every year.

My dear wife is a lifelong reader, and she introduced me to the world of books after we got married. I wasn’t much of a reader at the time, but that changed after we attended the Friends of the Abilene Public Library (FAPL) Book Sale.
Who Are the Friends of the Library?
The “Friends” are dedicated volunteers who support our local library, and they’re always looking for more helping hands. That weekend sparked a love for books I didn’t know I had.

Don’t Miss the Sneak-A-Peek Sale
What’s really awesome is their Sneak-A-Peek Book Sale, held the day before the main event. This special preview is only for Friends of the Library, so if you want early access to the best books, now’s the time to sign up and become a member or volunteer. You can register online easily.
More Than Just a Sale It’s a Mission
Volunteers are needed not just for the event, but all year round. FAPL is working toward something bigger: helping fund a new main library as part of Abilene Heritage Square. They’ve pledged $500,000 toward that goal, so this sale supports more than just your next great read. It helps build the future of reading in Abilene.
