'Community''s infamous "Six Seasons and a Movie" mantra has proven increasingly accurate with each surprise renewal, and while NBC has yet to formally decide on a sixth, and likely final season for the Greendale gang, new movie rumors suggest 'Fast and Furious' (and former 'Community) director Justin Lin may be eyed to helm a theatrical venture.

Take this with a few grains of salt, mind you, as we don't yet officially know if 'Community' will return for a sixth season of 13 episodes. Certainly, NBC would seem a bit foolish to let go of one of its most recognizable comedies (and that's saying something) so close to the mark, but the whims of TV gods are seldom subject to fairness. TVGuide reports that NBC and Sony insiders are at least optimistic about another 13 episodes, which would no doubt prove cheaper without Donald Glover, or likely Jonathan Banks.

Even then, Sony would likely have an easy time shopping the series around for a final-season pickup (or a movie) from the likes of Hulu (who owns digital rights, and has been looking for more breakout originals), Netflix, or another network. After all, we live in an age where the 'Veronica Mars' movie came to fruition on the backs of crowdsourcing. Said creator Dan Harmon to HitFix of late, "If the movie has to be made out of clay and duct tape in my basement, then that's how the movie will be made, because there has to be closure."

As for the movie itself, Lin has helmed multiple past 'Community' installments, though despite apparent rumors suggesting Lin for the frontrunner, also considered to be in play should be 'Captain America: The Winder Soldier' directors Joe and Anthony Russo. The Russos served as executive producers over the first few seasons of 'Community,' and Joe Russo even recently returned to helm "Advanced Advanced Dungeons and Dragons."

Absolutely nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but it's at least encouraging to hear genuine talk about a 'Community' movie, where a mere few seasons ago, the malleable comedy seemed almost assuredly canceled. What do you think? Would Justin Lin make an appropriate director for a 'Community' movie, should one come to fruition?
