First and foremost, if you believe you have unintentionally poisoned your pet, then please contact the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at 888-426-4435 for immediate assistance.

Here in the West Texas area we sure do love our bar-b-que, especially ribs. How many times have you finished that plate of ribs and then given the bones to your pooch? Well, bones can be a choking hazard and, even worse, cooked bones can splinter much easier causing problems in your dog's mouth, throat, and digestive tract.

Speaking of that delicious meat we throw on the grill, fat trimmings aren't good for Fido either. Foods high in fat, as well as fat trimmings, can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and other internal issues with your dog.

"But my dog loves all of that stuff" is probably the most insane response I've ever heard about some of the things we feed our animals. On a daily basis, we eat stuff that isn't good for us but is delicious. The problem with animals is that they don't have the decision-making skills it takes to determine which food is good or bad for them.

Ribs and fat aside, there is a ton of common food that we shouldn't give our dogs. So, out of love for our best friend, please pay attention to the following gallery of common foods to avoid giving dogs.
