Vivian Gray made a big impact on Texas Tech Lady Raider Basketball over the past season, with her leadership and play on the court. She will return to the Lady Raiders for a fifth NCAA season in 2021-2022.

The Lady Raiders and Gray both made announcements on social media on Thursday afternoon regarding Gray's return.

Gray said in part on Twitter, "I look forward to restoring and rebuilding the Lady Raider tradition and program. Making the NCAA tournament has always been a goal of mine and I believe that is possible this upcoming year here at Texas Tech. I look forward to developing my game with Coach Gerlich over this offseason and becoming the best player that I can (be) before moving on to the professional level. I can't wait to play in a packed United Supermarkets Arena in front of the best fans in the nation. We are not done yet."

NCAA basketball players that played during the 2019-2020 season were granted an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the cancellation of the 2019-2020 NCAA basketball postseason.

In the 2020-2021 season, Gray started all 24 games she played in. She averaged 36 minutes and 19.8 points per game. For the season, she shot 43.6% from the field and 23.1% for three-pointers. Gray also shot 74.9% for free throws and averaged 2.9 assists and 8.2 rebounds per game.

The last time Texas Tech Lady Raider Basketball made the NCAA Tournament was the 2012-2013 season. In 2020-2021, the Lady Raiders finished with a (9-10, 4-9) record.

Before joining Texas Tech for the 2020-2021 season, Gray played two years at Oklahoma State.
