Governors Perry and Nixon Bet on World Series

Texas Governor Rick Perry and Missouri Governor Jay Nixon have wagered food on the outcome of the World Series.

Perry has bet barbeque from the Salt Lick in Driftwood and Dr Pepper, and Nixon put up an order of St. Louis toasted ravioli, gourmet prosciutto salami and other meats, frozen custard, and a six pack of Budweiser.

Nixon said “It will be a great day for the state of Missouri when the Redbirds wrap up the 11^th World Championship in the team’s storied history, the second most world championships of any major league baseball franchise.”

Perry saw things differently from Nixon, saying “With all due respect to the Cardinals and their legendary fan base, it’s really their bad luck that they’re running up against the Texas Rangers, a team of destiny poised to win the World Series…as Gov. Nixon and his fellow Missourians are about to discover, you simply can’t mess with Texas.”

The first two games of the 2011 World Series will be played on Wednesday and Thursday in St. Louis. Games on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be played at The Ballpark in Arlington, and the final two will be played Wednesday, October 26^th and Thursday, October 27^th back in St. Louis, if necessary.
