The annual RunTogether 5K-1Mile Run/Walk/Waddle to benefit Cancer Services Network will be held November 18th at Frontier Texas. The community event will focus on hope and help for local cancer patients.
The 3rd annual American Cancer Society (ACS) 'Bark for Life' is making a drastic change and in my opinion it's for the better. In the past 'Bark for Life' was a 'Relay'. This year it's an 'Event', instead of seeing who finishes first there will be look-a-like, talent and other contests. The other good news is the entry fee dropped drastically check it out.
Sometimes you run across a story that just tears at your heart. This is one of those stories. It's a bit like a roller coaster ride; it's happy and sad at the same time. I just had to share though because the message is so incredibly strong. A girl diagnosed with terminal brain cancer will be able to fulfill her dying wish of playing in a college basketball game.
As I'm reading news stories online I found one, in particular, that really just floored me. A student at a Colorado elementary school shaved her head to show support for a friend going through cancer. When showing up to school with her freshly shaved head, she was told she would not be allowed back without a wig or until her hair grew back. What?
