‘Supergirl’ Will Finally Meet Lex Luthor This Season
Lex Luthor’s name has often been mentioned in the first few seasons of Supergirl, but Superman’s arch-nemesis has never been seen on The CW’s hit super-series…until now. Kara will officially come face-to-face with her cousin’s most famous foe this season — although he won’t be appearing in the highly-anticipated “Elseworlds” crossover event.
While Lex’s sister Lena has been a regular presence on Supergirl, her big bad bro has only been name-dropped. That will change in Season 4, as The CW — via the DC Comics website — has announced the long-awaited introduction of Lex. Casting will begin soon for the role of Superman’s iconic arch-enemy, who will have a recurring role on Supergirl this season.
In an official statement, executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller expressed their excitement over introducing Lex:
We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season. We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since its inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe to toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister Lena Luthor.
Lex was previously portrayed on the small screen by Michael Rosenbaum in Smallville, and in film by Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey (insert sad trombone sound, for numerous reasons).
We can’t wait to see who The CW enlists for this sure-to-be-pivotal role on Supergirl.
