Robert Wagner Is Now a ‘Person of Interest’ in the Death of Natalie Wood According to Investigators
One of the darkest and saddest mysteries in Hollywood history is the still-unsolved death of actress Natalie Wood, the glamorous star of films like Rebel Without a Cause and West Side Story. On the night of November 28, 1981, Wood got onto a boat with her husband Robert Wagner, and their friend Christopher Walken. Wood never returned to shore.
Initially, her death was ruled an accidental drowning, but the case was reopened in 2011. The following year the cause of Wood’s death was officially changed to “drowning and other undetermined factors.” Wagner has continued to insist he had nothing to do with Wood’s death. But in an episode of 48 Hours airing this weekend, authorities say that he is a “person of interest” in the case.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant John Corina told 48 Hours Wagner is still not a “suspect” in the case, but he believes he knows more than he’s saying (via TV Guide):
I haven't seen him tell the details that match all the other witnesses in this case. I think he's constantly changed his story a little bit. And his version of events just don't add up.
