MTV’s ‘Fear Factor’ Reboot Gets a Ludacris First Trailer
It was just over a month ago we learned that MTV wanted to put the Fear Factor in today’s youth with a Ludacris twist, making millennials dunk their cell phones rather than play gross-out games. Now, the first trailer for the youth-oriented revival looks a lot like the old series, because who doesn’t love beds full of maggots?
MTV released a first trailer for the new series, which itself premieres Tuesday, May 30, at 10:00 P.M. According to TVGuide, premiere episode “Ice is Thicker Than Water” will pair siblings together to face fears like “Roachella” (that’s more like it, MTV) and getting trapped under ice.
So reads the official synopsis, which seems to have done away with that whole “waterlogging personal cellphones” angle:
MTV is giving viewers the chance to conquer their fears head on with a refresh of the break-through series “Fear Factor.” Ludacris will host the new installment, custom-created for a generation that is increasingly empowered, while also more anxious than ever. Filled with new stunts inspired by urban legends, popular scary movies and viral videos from today’s cultural zeitgeist, “Fear Factor” contestants will confront their fears, be pushed beyond their comfort zones and take action against some of their biggest stressors.
Prior host Joe Rogan is absent from the new version, but watch the trailer again above, and stay tuned for the latest on MTV’s reboot.
