AMA-CON Returns to Amarillo This Weekend

Recently, the San Diego Comic-Con took place, and it was another epic event that gave us a lot of surprises and great insight into new things coming. Well, Amarillo isn't quite big enough to have THAT kind of Comic-Con, but we do have one that's pretty darn solid.

It's been around for 13 years now, and guess what? Yup, it's here for year 14.

AMA-CON Happening This Weekend

It's all happening this Saturday and Sunday, August 1-2, at the Amarillo Civic Center. AMA-CON is back, and there's already been a pretty cool happening associated with it. You may have noticed Optimus Prime was out at the Amarillo Public Library Downtown. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Saturday will kick things off at 11 am and run until 7 pm. However, the fun isn't over at that time. 15 minutes after it wraps up, Geek Prom will kick off, and that's always a good time. You can see pics from previous events here. Sunday, you can slide in at Noon and stay until 6 pm. Admission is $8 per day, or you can get a two-day wristband for $10.

Who Is Coming To AMA-CON

This year is loaded with some great guests. Cosplay competitor Bella Bradshaw will be here in her home city, and author Mark Crilley, who has done more than 50 books and graphic novels, will also be here. Want someone you've seen on screen? How about Sara Tomko, who you may know as Asta Twelvetrees on Resident Alien.

Other guests include voice actor Tiffany Grant, author Cindy Pham, and cosplayer, entertainer, and prop maker Billy Bolt. Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare will also be on hand for pet adoptions. On top of it all, there will be over 100 vendors on hand at the event for you to enjoy.

What Activities Will Be Available

There are a lot of different interactive activities you'll be able to take part in; it's not just a walk-and-look deal. There will be a scavenger hunt to take part in, as well as an escape room for you and your friends to try and get out of.

Other things to take part in include a Q&A session with guest artists, the popular toddler rave, cosplay competitions, gaming competitions, and several other things around the Civic Center.
