Portions of Central Texas were slammed on Thursday, May 9 by a massive hailstorm that dropped baseball, grapefruit, and even larger size hail over San Marcos, Johnson City, and other towns. Residents are patching the holes and picking up the pieces today.

According to KXAN, downed trees and power lines are still being picked up this morning after the severe weather last night. The National Weather Service reported that 5 inch hail fell in Johnson City. The storm was so bad last night that the San Marcos School District was delayed from starting by two hours on Friday.

Thursday's severe weather was a reminder for all Texans just how bad a hailstorm can be. And several videos have been posted to social media showing the power of last night's storm.

Here is a video showing Storm Chasers Juston Drake and Simon Brewer who recorded cantaloupe size hail falling in Johnson City

And in Wimberley, homeowners shot this video of the hailstorm smashing their windows and causing significant damage.

These type of hailstorms can be life threatening. You don't want to be caught outside or near any glass when these size of stones are falling to the ground.
