First Ever Glow-In-The-Dark Park Opens In Texas
A new playground has opened in Texas and while a new playground opening wouldn't normally make news all over the state, this playground is the first of its kind in the nation. The 18,000-square-foot playground called Joya has opened in Farmers Branch, Texas.
The park is equipped with interactive glowing elements which means during the day the park is a great place for kids to play, but at night the park comes alive and becomes a glow-in-the-dark park.
The park features a 27-foot sphere where kids can climb inside as well as a zip-line, a spin zone, glow seating, swings and an obstacle course. All of which comes alive at night with colorful LED lightning.
According to MySa.com, the Deputy City Manager gained inspiration about the park after a trip to China.
Farmers Branch officials called the playground, "Joya," which means Jewel in English. The city hopes the park will become the "crown jewel" of playgrounds. Deputy City Manager Mike Mashburn said he gained inspiration for the project from a public space in China. The area had interesting lighting, according to the release.
The park does look fun and interesting and I could see other cities building similar parks in the future. Would you like to see a glow-in-the-dark park in your city?
