I had no idea this was an annual competition and it looks like Texas has bragging rights for 2024.

Keep Scrolling to Check Out the Water Towers

Turns out water towers can win awards for the art designs on them. This award has been given out since 2006, to water towers all over the country. This year twelve finalists were announced and three water towers from Texas actually made that top twelve. First let's see who lost in Texas before we get to the big winner.

Honorable Mention: Grand Prairie, Texas

The images depict local attractions in the Dallas-Fort Worth area: horse racing at Lone Star Park, Joe Pool Lake, and amusement center Epic Central. Located prominently right off highway 161, this water tank serves as both a functional and artistic centerpiece in the city.

Honorable Mention: Hillsboro, Texas

Transforming the tank into a larger-than-life bottle of BBQ sauce, complete with detailed nutritional facts — a quirky nod to the store’s famous BBQ and massive selection of goodies. This playful design makes it a memorable roadside landmark for travelers heading through Texas.

2024 Winner: College Station, Texas

That's right Aggies, you have bragging rights for winning something this year and it's the best water tower in the country. This is true national championship that you wanted to win in 2024.

Who knew that water towers had bragging rights? I actually think it's cool when cities turn these structures into art pieces. Hopefully this encourages more cities to do something fun with their water towers instead of just plastering the city name on it and calling it a day.
