Anybody that knows me knows that I'm real big on "the more you know". If you're like me you like being informed and making educated decisions. That's why when I come across something useful that I didn't know, I love to share it. I mean, after all, it helps everyone involved.

I recently learned from Motor Biscuit about this trick that bad guys use to steal your car. These crooks are out there and they're up to no good. More and more they think of creative ways to get away with it.

Basically, it goes like this. Should you ever go out to your vehicle and there's money under your windshield wiper, do not get out to investigate it. Your car may be been targeted. You should be on alert to contact the police if needed. The crooks are hoping you get out to investigate or take the money, which is usually counterfeit anyway. Once you're out of the way, they swoop in and take off in your vehicle.

Additionally, it doesn't always have to be money on the front windshield. It can be as simple as a sticky note on your rear window. Whatever it takes to get a clear passage to an open vehicle. The video below explains the scheme as well as the types of vehicles targeted and which states were hotspots at that time.

There are also some tips and tasks from Allstate you can do to better deter the crooks. Things like:

  • Lock your doors when getting out
  • Remove your keys
  • Close windows
  • If at night, park in well-lit areas

The point is to keep you and your vehicle safe. Bottom line. Vehicles are an absolute lifeline for most of us. In some cases, it helps us support ourselves. Plus, cars are just cool to cruise in. That's why everybody loves our Abilene Cruise Nights. If you haven't taken part in one, keep scrolling to see what you've been missing.
