Abilene Mom’s Mission: How Your One Choice Is Fighting Drinking and Driving in Texas
Abilene is getting ready for a powerful Texas night that’s equal parts heartbreak, healing, and hope. The Your One Choice Fundraiser is coming back to the Big Country, reminding all of us that a single decision can change lives forever, and that together, we can turn tragedy into something that saves lives.
Honoring Aspen, Protecting Lives
Jennifer Blessing started Your One Choice in Texas after losing her daughter, Aspen, to a drunk driver. Instead of retreating from the pain, she chose to speak up by traveling to schools, events, and first-responder trainings to spread awareness and hand out those simple but powerful reminder bracelets: Your One Choice.

A Conversation with Jennifer Blessing
During my interview with Jennifer earlier today, she opened up about why this event matters so much. She talked about how grief never really goes away, it just changes shape, and how this fundraiser helps her channel that pain into something that protects others.
Her strength is quiet, steady, and incredibly inspiring. Check out the interview in the player below.
BBQ, Silent Auction, and a Bigger Purpose
On Friday, April 10, doors open at 6 p.m. at the Big Country Hall at the Taylor County Expo Center. Folks will enjoy a catered BBQ dinner, browse a loaded silent auction, and gather as a community that cares. But this isn’t just a fundraiser, it’s a conversation. Around 7:15, Jennifer Blessing will share Aspen’s story and why “one choice” matters more than we sometimes realize.
Giving Back to Those Who Serve
Two dollars from every ticket goes to support a local Volunteer Fire Department. This year, that means the Clyde VFD, the first responders who were there on Aspen’s crash scene. It’s a meaningful way to say “thank you” to the people who show up on our worst days.
Tickets are available now through March 27. So, grab yours, bring a friend, and be part of something that truly makes a difference in Texas.
