If you've ever opened a junk drawer at the house and found an old concert ticket, your grandpa's pocket knife, a faded Polaroid, or a birthday card you just couldn't toss... congratulations. You're probably a Texan.

Ah, so I’m NOT a packrat after all?

A new national study says Texas isn't just big on barbecue, football, and arguing over the best brisket. We're also one of the most sentimental states in America, landing at No. 3 overall behind only Georgia and Mississippi.

Everything's Bigger... Even Our Memories

The survey of more than 2,400 Americans found Texans don't just make memories; we go out of our way to create them.

A whopping 66% of Texans said they intentionally make plans to create memories with the people they love, the highest percentage in the entire study. Whether that's loading up the truck for a Friday night football game, spending weekends at the lake, grilling in the backyard, or packing up for a family road trip, we're apparently pretty good at making moments count.

And here's the part that made me laugh...I mean, this is relatability at its finest.

Yeah... We're Definitely Not Throwing That Away

The study found 75% of Texans admit it's very difficult to throw away gifts, photos, cards, souvenirs, or anything tied to someone they care about.

Um, guilty.

Somewhere in Texas there's a garage with a box labeled "Important Cables" that's been moved from house to house since 1988... and nobody is getting rid of it. I mean, who knows when you’ll need that cable splitter or fax machine power cord.

Maybe that's just who we are. We don't just hang onto stuff; we hang onto the stories that come with it. And if you ask me, that's one Texas tradition worth keeping. Hey, at the very least, this study completely justifies my packrat ways.
