Texas DPS Wants to Beat Florida in National Best-Looking Cruiser Contest

If there's one thing Texans love almost as much as barbecue, football, and arguing about brisket, it's a good competition.

Now the Texas Department of Public Safety is asking for a little help in a contest that has absolutely nothing to do with speeding tickets and everything to do with bragging rights.

Texas DPS Takes Aim at Florida

The Texas DPS cruiser is competing in the 13th Annual Best-Looking Cruiser Contest, a nationwide competition showcasing patrol vehicles from law enforcement agencies across the country.

The winning cruiser earns the coveted cover spot on the annual "America's Best-Looking Cruiser" calendar. Texas finished 10th last year and is looking to climb the rankings in 2026.

And who currently sits on the throne? Florida. Boooo!

The Sunshine State has won the contest three years in a row, which means Texas now has a mission: knock Florida off the top spot and bring the title home where it belongs.

A Cruiser With Some Serious Texas Style

The Texas entry features a sleek black Texas Highway Patrol cruiser accented with an orange outline of the Lone Star State on the door. To make it even more Texas, the vehicle was photographed in front of the historic Alamo.

Other states are showing off local landmarks too. Some even brought horses into the photo shoot. That's right, this thing has become the automotive version of a state fair beauty pageant.

Time for Texans to Do Their Thing

Voting is open through July 13, and each device gets one vote. The top 13 cruisers will make the calendar, while the overall winner lands on the cover.

So if you've ever felt a little competitive when someone says Florida is better than Texas, congratulations. You now have an outlet.

No pressure, Texas. Just the honor of an entire state riding on a patrol car.
