Some movies are fun to watch. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is an entire experience. People dress up, shout at the screen, and somehow know exactly when to do the Time Warp. Decades later, that kind of devotion deserves a shelf of its own.

Now the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum is planning seven figures based on The Rocky Horror Show, the stage musical that came before the movie. The lineup includes Frank-N-Furter, Rocky, Brad, Janet, Magenta, Riff Raff and Columbia.

I know there are a ton of Rocky Horror fans here in Abilene who would dig these bobbleheads. Remember all of the Shadow Cast shows at Play Faire Park?

Frank-N-Furter Was Never Going to Be Subtle

Frank comes with the corset, fishnets, pearls and platform shoes. Even the Rocky Horror logo on his base bobbles. I’d expect nothing less from a character who could make walking into a room feel like a full production number.

Tim Curry played Frank onstage before taking the role to the big screen, and it’s hard to picture anyone else delivering that much glorious weirdness.

Why the Rocky Horror Bobbleheads Are on Kickstarter

The figures haven’t been produced yet. The museum is using a Kickstarter campaign to fund them and gauge how many fans want one. It has a $15,000 goal, runs through Halloween, and the eventual production run will depend on demand. Frank’s original figure is exclusive to campaign backers.

I’m curious to see whether the fans show up for this one. Then again, we’re talking about people who’ve kept a midnight movie party going for half a century. Showing up in costume is kind of their thing.

Honestly, I love that Rocky Horror can still inspire something this wonderfully odd. Whether these bobbleheads end up on your shelf or you’d rather just yell at the screen with the rest of us, it’s one more excuse to celebrate a show that never learned how to behave. And thank goodness for that.
