Massive Reptile Expo Brings Thousands of Snakes and Exotic Pets to Abilene
Alright, I’ll admit it…snakes freak me out a little. I know, I do live in Texas, where Spring brings out those slithering devils. But also? I’m completely fascinated by them. If that's you as well, then you'll be pretty stoked about this massive reptile event coming to Abilene.
My Snake Rabbit Hole Is Real
I don’t know when it started, but I’ve gone deep into snake content. I follow pages like Nathan from Big Country Snake Removal, and next thing I know, I’ve watched like 10 videos in a row, thinking I could totally identify a rattlesnake now.
Do I want one in my house? Let’s not get carried away. Do I want to check them out up close? Absolutely. So yeah…this HERPS Exotic Reptile and Pet Expo rolling into Abilene? This is my kind of chaos.

Thousands of Exotic Animals Take Over Abilene
This thing is bringing in thousands of reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and even small mammals to the Taylor County Expo Center. I’m talking snakes, lizards, frogs, spiders, you name it. Basically, everything that makes you go “that’s cool” and “nope” at the same time.
And the wild part? Some of the best breeders in the country will be here, and a lot of these animals are actually for sale. So…good luck with your self-control.

Hands-On Learning (AKA How Brave Are You?)
There’s also an educational section where you can get hands-on and actually learn about these animals. Perfect for kids…or adults like me who are curious but also keeping a respectful distance.
Plus, concessions will be available, so you can snack while deciding if you’re brave enough to touch anything. Just know…you may walk in curious…and leave googling “what do snakes eat and how often.”
