Hawley Bearcats

Hawley got to the big dance by beating Crawford in Mineral Wells on Thursday night 34-20. The win keeps the Bearcats unbeaten on the season at 15-0. This will be the second year in a row for the Bearcats as they fell short last year to Shiner in the state championship game. After that loss, Hawley has been blowing teams out left and right and definitely deserves a shot at the state championship trophy.

Hawley will play the Refugio Bobcats this Thursday at 11 am at the home of the Dallas Cowboys, AT&T Stadium.

Albany Lions

Albany beat New Home 53-25 to advance to the state finals. After starting the season 3-2, the Lions have won the last 10 games in a row to improve their record to 13-2. This will be the first time since 2015 that the Lions are in the finals. They were in the finals in 1991, 2009, 2014, and 2015. Albany will be looking for their first state championship win under longtime head coach, Denney Faith.

The Lions will play the Mart Panthers in Jerry's World this Wednesday night at 7.

Good luck to both Abilene area teams in the state finals!
