Youth Home Run Derby Coming To Clyde: One Night, Big Swings, And Family Fun

The folks at Between The Lines Baseball Co. are bringing a Youth Home Run Derby to Clyde on August 15, 2026, and it sounds like a pretty fun way for kids to show off their power at the plate while making some memories along the way.

The event gets underway at 6 p.m. at the Hanner Sports Complex in Clyde, and it's open to both baseball and softball players. According to organizers, there will be champions crowned in every age division, awards and prizes handed out, music pumping throughout the evening, and a format designed so every player has a chance to compete.

More Than Just Home Runs

What caught my eye is that this isn't one of those events where only the biggest kid wins, and everybody else goes home disappointed. The derby uses a power points format, meaning every participant has an opportunity to rack up points and compete.

Let's be honest, most of us grew up pretending we were Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, or Mark McGwire in the backyard. Now today's kids get a chance to step into the batter's box and see what they've got.
