If you hear a little squawk on The Afternoon Buzz later today, don’t adjust your radio. That’s not me losing it, that’s Blake the Green-Winged Macaw grabbing some mic time alongside Marlen and Caylie from The Abilene Zoo.

Wild Days is back this Saturday at The Abilene Zoo, and this year they’re turning up the volume on awesome. I got the scoop straight from the folks who make the zoo magic happen, and you can listen to the full interview in the player below.

Marlen and Caylie shared some cool updates that go way beyond the regular animal meet-and-greets. First up? A C-130 aircraft has landed, not for a movie shoot, but planted right on the zoo grounds. They’re transforming it into part of the visitor experience, and trust me… that’s the kind of unexpected twist you’ve come to expect around here.

They also talked about exciting expansion plans that will let the zoo bring even more wildlife and interactive experiences to Abilene. And yes, Blake the Macaw got a few choice words in, too, mostly involving snacks and attention (totally relatable, Blake).
