Abilene Firefighters Need You TODAY: Sign the Petition That Could Land on the November Ballot
There’s something important happening in Abilene right now, and if you’ve ever respected the men and women who show up when things go sideways… this is one of those moments to show it.
I’m gonna say this loud for the people in the back… I’ve got nothing but respect for our firefighters, first responders, and the volunteer crews that show up when things go bad. These are the folks running toward the chaos while the rest of us are figuring out which way is safe.
So, seeing this situation even get to this point? Yeah… that’s a little wild to me.

Why Are Firefighters Gathering Signatures in Abilene?
The Abilene Professional Fire Fighters Association is holding an open house today (Thursday, April 23) to collect signatures for a petition that would put collective bargaining and binding arbitration on the November ballot.
In other words, they want YOU to decide how contracts, pay, and working conditions are handled moving forward.
And honestly… why wasn’t this handled before it got here?
Where to Go (And Yeah, You’ve Got Time)
- 1120 Butternut St, Abilene
- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. TODAY
Swing by on your lunch break, before work, after work—whatever works. They’ve made this as easy as possible.
This Is Bigger Than Politics, It’s About Our People
This isn’t about picking sides. It’s about giving the community a voice on something that directly impacts the people who protect it.
You’ll probably see firefighters out around town too, walking neighborhoods, setting up near polling spots, maybe even knocking on your door. Don’t dodge it. Hear them out.
Abilene, Let’s Show Up
If you’ve ever waved at a fire truck, thanked a first responder, or just appreciate knowing someone’s got your back when things go sideways… this is one of those moments to show it.
It’s happening today. Don’t just scroll past it.
