The owners of CBD House of Healing in Texas, a well-known and respected Abilene business that’s been at the center of the city’s hemp and wellness conversation, have been arrested following a months-long investigation by the Abilene Police Department.
Brennon and Brittany Manske were taken into custody and charged with Possession of THC with Intent to Deliver after APD executed a search warrant in August.

The Raid and the Charges
According to police reports, the investigation began in June when undercover officers allegedly purchased vape pens from the business that later tested positive for THC. A second buy in August reportedly produced similar results, leading to a warrant that turned up marijuana, THC vapes, and cartridges inside the store.
The Manskes were later booked into the Taylor County Jail, accused of distributing products that go beyond what’s allowed under Texas hemp laws.
A Familiar Story on The Afternoon Buzz
I’ve had Brennon and Brittany on The Afternoon Buzz multiple times to talk about their mission, their products, and the challenges of navigating Texas’ gray-area hemp laws — including when their shop first faced closure and when their case intersected with a local judge’s resignation.
Their story has always been one of small-business grit and community focus, which makes this turn of events hit a little harder for many in Abilene and leaves folks scratching their heads regarding what is legal and what is not.
The Bigger Picture
The couple maintains they’ve always operated as a federally legal hemp business with Certificates of Analysis to prove compliance. They claim the field tests used were unreliable and that officers misinterpreted hemp law, a debate now headed to the courtroom.
For Abilene, it’s more than a legal headline; it’s a crossroads between small business, evolving laws, and a community trying to understand where hemp ends and “illegal” begins in Texas.
