Every week in Texas, I check in with the incredible folks at All Kind Animal Initiative, and every week, I wish this list didn’t have to exist. But here we are again with some more amazing dogs in Abilene who are running out of time and desperately need someone to step up. Not tomorrow. Not “someday.” Right now.

These aren’t “problem” animals. They’re victims of space, timing, and tough circumstances. Some were surrendered. Some were found wandering. All of them are confused, stressed, and wondering where their person went.

These Pets Don’t Need Perfect They Just Need Someone

If you’ve ever thought, “I’m not sure I’m ready,” let me say this: these animals don’t need a mansion, a huge yard, or a Pinterest-perfect life. They need safety. A couch. A heartbeat in the house. Someone who won’t give up on them again.

Many of this week’s urgent pets in Texas are already house-trained, affectionate, and just want attention. Some are shy at first. Some are goofy chaos gremlins. All of them have personalities that start shining the second they feel safe.

Adoption Saves Two Lives, Not Just One

When you adopt one of these urgent pets, you’re not only saving that animal, you’re also opening space for the next one coming through the doors. And unfortunately, there’s always another one coming.

If adoption isn’t possible, fostering, donating, or simply sharing this list can literally be life-changing. Your social media share might be the post that reaches their future family.
