Texas Weather Forces Date Change for a Great Cause

Due to recent rain and a cold front moving through Abilene and the Big Country, the 4th Annual Spectrum Connection Autism Walk has been rescheduled from April 5 to Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Redbud Park. Event organizers made the decision in the interest of safety and comfort for all participants, especially the children.

Check-in and registration will now begin at 9:00 a.m., and the walk will start at 10:00 a.m.

West Texas Community Comes Together for Autism Awareness

This walk, organized by the Big Country Spectrum Connection, continues to shine a light on autism awareness and the importance of support for families and children living with autism across West Texas. Organizer Jeri Jones says "moving the date gives more people the chance to register and prepare, especially since many participants will be arriving in costume or ready for face painting."

Jeri Jones adds, “Rescheduling the event will allow more people to sign up and give those already registered time to prepare. It's about making it fun, safe, and inclusive for everyone involved.”

Texas Families Will Enjoy a Fun, Inclusive Day

Attendees can expect a full day of fun and inspiration with live guest speakers, a DJ spinning family-friendly tunes, puppet shows, and plenty of activities for children. There will also be a number of community resource booths available to provide valuable information for families seeking autism-related support right here in West Texas.

Awards will be given to participants who raise the most funds and to kids in best costume or with the most creative face painting.
