Let me say this loud and clear: as a father of eight incredible children and a proud Texan, I fully support the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that allows our state to require pornographic websites to verify users’ ages. This never should have been up for debate. Why would anyone question the need to keep adult content away from kids?

Our children deserve protection, not access to harmful online content. And let’s be honest: this isn’t about censorship. It’s about common sense.

What the Supreme Court Just Decided for Texas

This past week, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in favor of a Texas law that requires porn sites to verify a user’s age using government-issued IDs, facial recognition, or credit card verification. This law, passed in 2023, applies to websites where over one-third of the content is considered harmful to minors.

Violators can face fines of $10,000 per offense or more if children are exposed.

Why Was This Even a Question?

That’s the part I still don’t understand. We card people for beer, cigarettes, and lottery tickets, but we’re just now deciding it’s okay to card for porn? As a dad, I don’t need a law to tell me this is wrong. Kids don’t belong on adult websites. Period.

And yet some groups tried to stop Texas from enforcing this law, claiming it violates free speech. Let me ask you this: Since when is protecting kids from exploitation a free speech issue? Furthermore, have you seen the number of missing children in Texas?
