A Texan Reveals What Real Freedom Means in the Lone Star State
Every time the calendar flips to July, something stirs deep in my soul, a sense of pride, purpose, and patriotism that goes beyond fireworks and cookouts.
And here in Texas, that feeling runs red, white, and blue, with a Lone Star shine.

Independence Day isn’t just about celebrating a date in history.
It’s about remembering what that day means. It’s about the courage to break free from tyranny, and the bravery it takes to defend that freedom, generation after generation.
Freedom Was Earned, and Texans Helped Pay the Price
We didn’t just get our freedom, we earned it. In 1776, when our Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence, they were pledging their lives to a radical idea: that liberty is worth everything.
That spirit lives on in every soldier, sailor, airman, Marine, and Coast Guardsman.
And right here in Texas, we know a thing or two about standing up and fighting back. From Fort Bliss in El Paso to Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texans have been serving, leading, and defending liberty since the beginning.
July: A Month Full of Military Pride and Texas Grit
July is more than just fireworks and hot dogs; it’s a month packed with powerful military moments that shaped this nation.
And Texans were there every step of the way.
Texas Still Leads in the Defense of Freedom
From small West Texas towns that raise warriors to global peacekeeping missions, Texas continues to lead the charge.
Our sons and daughters don’t run from a fight; they run toward the sound of duty.
Recent missions, from stealth bomber strikes to special operations, remind the world that America doesn’t back down and Texas doesn’t blink.
What the World Sees in Us
When people around the world look to America, they see freedom and strength, not just in our symbols, but in the brave Texans wearing the uniform, standing tall, and never letting the flame of liberty go out.
We don’t fight to conquer.
We fight to protect.
We fight to inspire.
In Texas, Independence Means Remembering the Brave
So this July 4th, as you raise a flag or light a sparkler, take a moment.
Think about every Texan who’s ever stood post on foreign soil, kissed their family goodbye, and sworn an oath to defend something bigger than themselves. I will never forget the day we were informed that my nephew was not returning home.
This is America.
This is Texas.
And freedom, real freedom, isn’t free.
We honor it. We defend it, and we celebrate it every July, Texas style.
