Join APD for Trunk or Treat: Candy, Costumes and Safe Family Fun!
Trunk or Treat with the Heroes of Abilene! A Spooktacular Evening of Fun, Safety, and Surprises
Spend A Night With Heroes, Candy, & Having Some Community Fun
Get ready for a night of thrills, chills, and most importantly, safe fun as the Abilene Police Department (APD) invites all kids and their families to a spooktacular Trunk or Treat event! On Thursday, October 24th, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, the APD parking lot at 4565 South First Street will transform into a Halloween wonderland. And trust me, as someone who's been working closely with these incredible men and women for years, I can promise you this will be one unforgettable evening!
Our First Responders and Local Businesses Team Up
This year, the APD isn’t celebrating alone. First responders and local businesses are joining in on the fun. Expect to see our brave Abilene Police and Firefighters, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love meeting a real-life hero in costume? Plus, I’ve got a ton of friends in the APD and Abilene Fire Department, who tell me "It will be a good time for everyone!" You’ll also see many of us who are big supporters of our local heroes right there with you.
Costumes, Candy, and Community
This event isn’t just about grabbing candy, though there will be plenty of that! It’s about community, safety, and fun. Bring your kiddos dressed in their favorite costumes (parents, feel free to get creative too), but don’t forget: "an adult or guardian must be present." Safety is a top priority, so remember to wear reflective clothing and bring a flashlight—it’s all part of the fun, and it’s a great way to stay visible.
Dunk a Hero and Enjoy Free Activities
For those of you with a strong throwing arm, I challenge you to try your luck at the dunking booth! There will be games, candy, and activities for everyone, even mom and dad will find something to enjoy. And did I mention, that it’s all FREE? See photos of previous APD Trunk or Treats below.

Meet Abilene’s First Responders
My friends Lindsey Hoxsey (APD Dispatch) and Rick Tomlin (APD’s Public Information Coordinator), say "This is a kid-friendly event, and everyone in the community is invited." So, come out and meet the men and women who keep our city safe, show off those costumes, and make some great memories. Whether you're in it for the candy, the costumes, or the chance to dunk a local hero, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
Celebrate Halloween As A Community Group
So, mark your calendars, and I'll see you there, alongside the Abilene Police Department, Fire Department, and all our amazing first responders who are looking forward to meeting you and the kids. Let’s celebrate Halloween together in the best (and safest) way possible at 4565 South First Street.
