Spring into the season with the Abilene Community Bands' "Spring Concert" coming up on Tuesday, May 9th at the historic Paramount Theatre. Get into the spirit As the Abilene Community Band heats things up starting at 7:30 PM.

The Abilene Community Band is set to perform a variety of classics like, American variations of "Peanut Vendor," Sousa's "March of the Royal Trumpets," "Clear Track Polka," "Festa Espagnol," and "Whip and Spur Gallop."

The Abilene Community Band was founded on July 4th, 1976, and has been performing ever since. The director of the band is Joe Stevens retired Abilene Independent School District (AISD) Band Director. Mr. Stephens was my 9th-grade band director at what used to be called Mann Junior High School.

Joe, throughout the years, also directed at what was called Lee Elementary School, Mann Junior High, Abilene High, Cooper High, and several other schools throughout the AISD. I recall my first marching band parade in Downtown Abilene for the Fair and Rodeo Parade. Yep, Mr. Joe Stephens walked the entire parade looking, listening, and taking pictures.

Nowadays when I get the chance, I love listening to the Abilene Community Band perform. While I still don't know where Joe Stephens comes up with his varied playlist he seems to cover all genres of music. From Jazz, blues, swing, big band, Christian, Latin, Rock-N-Roll, and country, the Abilene Community Band will keep you entertained and tapping your toes.

The Abilene Community Band's annual Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 9th at the Paramount Theatre is FREE!

Nonetheless, the Abilene Community Band will be performing live at the historic Paramount Theatre at 352 Cypress Street in downtown Abilene for their Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 9th beginning at 7:30 PM. While this is a free concert donations are accepted so please give generously and get there early to get the best seats.

Come and enjoy the music performed by our own Abilene Community Band. For the record the video below is my favorite ACB Concert, enjoy!
