George Strait’s Hurricane Harvey Benefit Features Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton
George Strait will be joined by Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton and more during his portion of the nationwide multi-network Hurricane Harvey relief concert next week.
Proceeds from a Sept. 12 concert that also features Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen will go to Rebuild Texas Fund, while select performances from the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Texas, will be broadcast on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and CMT, according to Billboard. It's all part of the multi-genre Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey relief concert that Strait was previously announced as being part of.
Last week Strait hinted at some sort of relief concert. The Texas native has property in one of the small towns hit hardest by Hurricane Harvey on Aug. 25. Lambert has also been actively involved, with her MuttNation charity rescuing more than 100 dogs to clear space for new animals in need of care in the Houston area.
The television special begins at 8PM ET on Sept. 12. Tickets for Strait's live performance go on sale on Sept. 6 at 10AM CT through Ticketmaster.
Nope, Miranda's Not Afraid to Roll Her Sleeves Up
The concert is a rare opportunity for fans in Texas to see Strait, and an even more rare occurrence to see him in a small venue. Since his 2014 retirement from the road he's performed almost exclusively in Las Vegas, with a residency at the T-Mobile Arena continuing through December.
Lambert has a break before she resumes touring in Canada this fall. Stapleton has been touring throughout the summer and will spend an off day traveling to San Antonio to help.
