Casket of Deceased Army Green Beret to be Brought Back to Lubbock
Last month, U.S. Army Sgt. Michael Kyle Evans passed away while stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. KAMC News reports Sgt. Evans served in the Army for 15 years with multiple tours of duty in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.
The Lubbock Patriot Guard Riders tell KFYO News the casket of Sgt. Evans will be flown into Lubbock the afternoon of Tuesday, June 4, 2019. It is expected to arrive at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport between 2:00-2:20pm, and members of Sgt. Evans Green Beret unit will be on hand for a final sendoff.
Local law enforcement and Lubbock Patriot Guard Riders will escort the hearse from the airport to Lakeridge Funeral Home. Then a funeral service for Sgt. Evans will be held Saturday, June 8, at First Baptist Church on Broadway.
The 33 year-old Evans died in his sleep and he is survived by his wife, Lacey; a daughter, a soon-to-be-born child, and additional family members.
