The Abilene Zoo and several local businesses are honoring all branches of the military and their families on National Armed Forces Day Saturday, May 19th.

Military personnel and their families will get in free at the Abilene Zoo from 9 AM until 4 PM Saturday. In addition, Dyess and other local dignitaries will begin the ceremonies at 9 AM with opening remarks, the singing of the national anthem and the presentation of the colors.

From 11 AM until 2 PM a free lunch will be served (or until supplies the food runs out). Military children are invited to have fun in the air castle, listen to the zoo keepers talk about the animals and enjoy live music while exploring the zoo.

U.S. Congressman Jodey Arrington and Texas State Representative Stan Lambert will be giving out free American and Texas flags, while supplies last. H-E-B, Dr. Bill Haynes, and the Russell-Rose ReMax Team are making all the activities possible.
