After calling in extra crews over the past 72 hours, Xcel Energy says it is finishing up power restoration efforts for parts of West Texas affected by last Wednesday's hurricane-force wind storms.

As of Saturday 2pm, Xcel Energy is reporting about 700 customers across West Texas and Eastern New Mexico remain without power.

The vast majority of the remaining power outages are in Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle, north of Interstate 40. Xcel hopes to have most of the remaining outages fixed by the end of Saturday, but they note that some customers may have to have an electrician come out and make repairs to service masts or meter boxes before power can be restored.

In addition, Oncor is reporting less than 30 customers remain without power across their West Texas service area, which includes most of the Permian Basin and parts of the southern South Plains and western Big County.
