Bryan Fuller’s new CBS Star Trek has yet to confirm any real production details beyond the creative talent involved, but the streaming sci-fi series may yet explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations up north. We’re talking of Canada, of course, as rumor has it the new series will diverge from its predecessors with a Toronto production.

If ever you thought that Zoo or Under the Dome had CBS skewing a little out-there with its summer series, boy, is BrainDead going to fry your … uh, right. CBS has kept mum on details of a new Star Trek TV series since the announcement that it would debut on CBS All-Access in 2017, and its first announcement brings mostly good news. First off, Hannibal and American Gods showrunner Bryan Fuller will return to his Star Trek past to topline the new series!

CBS’ Supergirl has understandably kept its distance from an actual Superman appearance, both for in-story purposes and the character’s cinematic exploits, but would a familiar face help? Still a broadcast rating juggernaut, CBS could make the argument more than most for extending or cutting short its most recognizable hits, and with TCA putting the Eye in the limelight, CBS has good news and bad. We may not have to worry about The Big Bang Theory returning after next season, while Mike & Molly’s closure is official, and both The Good Wife and Person of interest get dubious futures.
