Star Trek: Discovery has been making plenty of progress with casting and production, though fans are still a bit unnerved by the change in schedule from January, to May, to fall. Even now, CBS brass won’t nail down a fall premiere window, saying “we’re not tied to any specific release date.”

Star Trek fans have waited years for the franchise to return to TV, and will wait longer still, it seems. Despite CBS initially scheduling the new Discovery series for a January 2017 bow, the newest Star Trek saga has been pushed back to May over production demands.

It’s safe to say a reasonable amount of people will have watched Hillary Clinton accept the Democratic nomination from this week’s National Convention, leaving all of late-night buzzing in its wake. At long last, Comic-Con 2016 brought word that Bryan Fuller’s CBS All-Access Star Trek series would bear the title Discovery, named for the ship we glimpsed in the brief promo, though reactions to the design proved somewhat mixed. Many noted similarity to Ralph McQuarrie designs for the Enterprise, but according to executive producers, the U.S.S. Discovery may yet change its final look.

Anyone following David Letterman (and his giant beard)’s post-retirement from The Late Show can’t help a smile at the veteran comic’s irreverent outlook. To wit, Letterman reveals in a new interview that he “couldn’t care less” about Stephen Colbert’s new Late Show, or any other series out there, wondering why the job didn’t go to a female host.
