On Tuesday’s edition of Lubbock’s First News, Charles Perry, state representative of District 83, spoke with Chad and Rex about some of the issues he’s addressing in his re-election campaign.

Perry has been traveling around to the new parts of District 83 after redistricting took place. He said one of the big issues he’s talking to people about is his long-term vision for the state of Texas.

“We’ve got 10, 20-year issues that we need to start working on today or Texas looks a lot  different. When I kind of give [people] a statesman’s 20-year look instead of a 2-year election cycle, they kind of figure out that I’m at least working hard.”

Another big issue Perry’s talking about is education. He said he would like to improve the equity distribution amongst schools, as well as work on curriculum reform. Perry said he would also like to see schools work more with the students who do not intend to go to college by means of career technology programs.
