The anthology nature has prevented Black Mirror fans from ascertaining many details of the upcoming 12-episode Season 3, at least apart from the talent involved. We now have another notable name to add to the list, as Boardwalk Empire and Trainspotting star Kelly Macdonald will appear in one of the new season’s technology parables.

Per Deadline, the voice behind Brave’s Merida will appear in an episode titled “Hated in the Nation,” as directed by Penny Dreadful and Doctor Who helmer James Hawes. As with many other casting and directing announcements, details of the episode itself are under wraps for the moment.

That said, elsewhere of the new season we know that upcoming Roots star Malachi Kirby will appear in Jakob Verbruggen’s “Men Against Fire,” along with Bryce Dallas Howard and Alice Eve in an episode from Pan director Joe Wright. Concussion and Halt & Catch Fire stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis will appear in an episode directed by past “Be Right Back” helmer Owen Harris. 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg will helm an episode as well.

For those unfamiliar with the series, whose two seasons have endured strong Netflix play already, Black Mirror takes an anthology approach to technology parables, each episode telling an original tale of the dark influence modern and future technology might have on humanity. Existing episodes have featured the likes of Fantastic Four baddie Toby Kebbell, Agent Carter favorite Hayley Atwell, Star Wars: The Force Awakens villain Domhnall Gleeson, and most recently a Christmas special with Jon Hamm and Game of Thrones alum Oona Chaplin.

House of Tomorrow’s Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones will remain onboard as executive producers and showrunners, though no premiere dates have yet been determined. What other big names might join before long?
