The prototypical Jason Statham action hero is a man who can do just about anything  except shave properly. He always seems to have trouble keeping his stubble under control. Other than that, though, he’s just about perfect.

Witness his awesomeness in the new trailer for Mechanic: Resurrection, the sequel to his little-seen 2011 film The Mechanic about an ultra-efficient assassin with a gift for making hits look like accidents. In this sequel, Statham’s Arthur Bishop is drawn back into the high-stakes world of international assassination (a game I assure you he plays for keeps) by Jessica Alba. Somehow, Tommy Lee Jones and his soul patch get involved. Again, there are kinds of weird shaving issues in this movie.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Arthur Bishop [Jason Statham] returns as the Mechanic in the sequel to the 2011 action thriller. When the deceitful actions of a cunning but beautiful woman [Jessica Alba] force him to return to the life he left behind, Bishop’s life is once again in danger as he has to complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.

Despite my confusion why this movie exists when the first movie didn’t make all that much money to begin with and is hardly remembered five years later, I enjoyed that previous Mechanic movie (which was itself a remake of an old Charles Bronson vehicle). Really the name of the movie and the plot are irrelevant. This is just a vehicle for Jason Statham to kick ass, look cool, and never ever shave his face. Mechanic: Resurrection opens in theaters on August 26.
