Kanye West Invited to Visit African Slave Ports by Nigerian Senator
People are still fuming over Kanye West's initial comments about slavery being a choice. It's not just people in the United States that have taken issue. Nigerian Senator Shehu Sani had some words for Yeezy on Twitter on Friday (May 4).
Clearly not feeling what West had to say, Sani shot off the tweet, "If @kanyewest thinks Slavery was a choice, we will offer him a free ticket & tour guide to visit slave routes and camps in Badagry Lagos, Ouida Benin Republic, Ghana & Goree Island in Senegal to ‘experience the choices in chains.’"
He added, "Kanye defecated on the graves of victims."
A number of people have stepped up to display their confusion or outright anger with Kanye's comment. Lupe Fiasco fired back at 'Ye's commentary with facts. Detroit radio station 105.1 The Bounce has pulled the plug on playing the rapper's music because of what he said. "We feel like Kanye has gone too far with his latest statement declaring that 'slavery was a choice,'" a Facebook post from the station reads.
Feeling the pressure, West has since clarified his statements earlier this week. "To make myself clear," he tweeted. "Of course I know that slaves did not get shackled and put on a boat by free will. My point is for us to have stayed in that position even though the numbers were on our side means that we were mentally enslaved."
