There will inevitably be a twinge of sadness next season on ABC, that Agent Carter no longer remains part of the lineup, even as Hayley Atwell gets higher billing on a new series. Never will that divide be clearer, however, than the erstwhile Peggy snorting coke and embracing her wild side with an American accent in the first trailer for ABC legal drama Conviction.

Amid its other 2016-17 releases, ABC dropped the first official trailer for Atwell’s new series, which the Agent Carter star would reportedly have juggled if the latter had moved forward with Season 3. In addition to X-Men and The Walking Dead stars Shawn Ashmore and Emily Kinney, so reads the full synopsis:

Lawyer and former First Daughter Hayes Morrison (Atwell) is about to accept a job offered from her sexy nemesis, NY District Attorney Wayne Wallis, to avoid jail time for cocaine possession and avoid hurting her mother’s Senate campaign. Working with his team at the new Conviction Integrity Unit will let her use her brilliant mind to turn over cases where there is credible suspicion of wrongful conviction, and give her a chance to turn things around with her high-powered political family.

It’s admittedly odd to see Atwell so soon transformed from Peggy Carter into a more salacious American role on the same network, though it at least keeps her in the ABC family long enough for a future Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. appearance to wrap up some of the leftover Agent Carter story.

In the meantime, watch the trailer for yourself above, and stay tune for more on Conviction this fall.
