Promotion of FX’s Donald Glover-fronted Atlanta has been few and far between, its only real teaser airing with the People v. O.J. Simpson finale, at least until now. The off-kilter hip-hop drama has a new full-length promo, along with a September premiere.

Our first real look at FX’s Atlanta doesn’t offer much insight into the series itself, but nonetheless will stick with you for its inventive use of footage in reverse. The brief spot also paints a clearer target on the premiere, aiming for September 2016.

Written by and starring Glover, who himself grew up in the titular city, FX’s Atlanta follows two cousins on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene whose opposing views on art versus commerce, success and race will make their quest anything but easy. Glover will also act as the show’s executive producer, along with Paul Simms (Girls, Flight of the Conchords), and Dianne McGunigle.

Describing the new series as a “Twin Peaks with rappers,” FX has also released detailed descriptions of the show’s characters. Stay tuned for more formal announcements after the teaser above.
