The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is offering a Citizen's Park Ranger Academy this April for students. They will gain a better understanding of the Texas State Park system and have fun too.

This is the 3rd year that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has offered the Citizen's Park Ranger Academy to the public. Students must be at least 15 years old to attend without a parent or ages 13-15 with a parent. You must also be physically able to lift, hike, crawl and more.

The academy splits time between Dinosaur Valley State Park and Cleburne State Park where you will learn skills like trail building and maintenance, wildland firefighting, search and rescue, park interpretation, dutch oven cooking and more.

Academy graduates will receive a certificate and t-shirt and lots of knowledge. The class is FREE but limited. Registration must be complete by April 5th for the class that runs every Saturday, from 8am-1pm April 9th-30th.
