DeMarco Murray Expected to Sign With the Philadelphia Eagles

The Dallas Cowboys have lost another starter to free agency. This time taking a huge hit at running back as DeMarco Murray has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to ESPN, the deal with the Eagles is expected to be for 5 years, $42 million dollars with $21 million guaranteed.

"It was never about the money in any situation," Murray texted ESPN.com's Todd Archer. "If it was the money I could've taken that a long time ago on a very high deal. It's about winning a Super Bowl and being fair."

Multiple reports said that Murray personally reached out to Eagles coach, Chip Kelly on Wednesday (March 11th), and expressed his desire to play for Philadelphia in their spread offense, and with newly signed QB, Sam Bradford, who he was a teammate with at Oklahoma.

Murray was drafted in the third round of the NFL draft in 2011 by the Cowboys. Though the start of his career was hampered by injuries, Murray started to shine in 2013 when he played 14 games and rushed for over 1100 yards. In 2014, he played all 16 games, and became a workhorse for the Cowboys, carrying the ball 392 times for 1845 yards and 13 touchdowns, claiming the NFL rushing title.

The only knock on Murray is his fumbles. In 2014, he fumbled the ball 5 times, losing all 5. In his career he has lost 8 out of 12 fumbles.

Losing Murray leaves a huge hole at running back for the Cowboys. However, does this mean that Adrian Peterson could soon be wearing the star? Only time will tell as free agency continues.
