Congressman Randy Neugebauer Talks Congressional Campaign and Fannie Mae on Lubbock’s First News [AUDIO]

On Friday’s edition of Lubbock’s First News, Congressman Randy Neugebauer talked with Chad and Rex about his re-election campaign and some of the criticism he’s received.

Neugebauer addressed some of his opponent’s accusations concerning his involvement with Fannie Mae. He said that many people were deceived by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and had they known the truth, there would have been a lot of changes made to these organizations.

“In hindsight, I think we should have done reform a lot earlier, and our reform should have been much broader and more punitive. Butobviously, we didn’t realize until…things had completely frozen up to the extent of their lending and investing practices.”

Neugebauer said that he was working to reform Fannie Mae, voted against the bailout funded by taxpayers, and that he was proud of his voting record.

Neugebauer also talked about his feelings concerning the Volker Rule. He said that he wasn’t necessarily opposed to the rule, but that he would like to see it be more clearly defined before he puts his full support behind it. He also discussed the NDAA and his endorsements.
