Believed Murder-Suicide Under Investigation in Midland

Two people have been found fatally shot on an oilfield lease property near Midland. The killings of 44-year-old Elizabeth Rangel Torres and 50-year-old Arturo Alvarado of Midland are still being investigated but authorities say the shootings appear to be a murder-suicide.

The bodies have been sent to Tarrant County for autopsies. Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter said the bodies were spotted near a pickup truck yesterday afternoon south of the intersection of West County Road 60 and South County Road 1275. A weapon was found at the scene.
