American Idol contestant Gabby Barrett held her own during the show's Top 24 duets episode Monday night (April 9). The hopeful found herself onstage beside Sugarland for a powerful performance of the duo's Grammy-winning hit "Stay."

Barrett and Nettles traded verses seamlessly in the three minutes they had together, and the Idol contestant seemed at ease. Judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie were visibly impressed while Barrett belted the powerful "Stay" lyrics, and country's Luke Bryan looked on intently.

“I don’t know if we’ve seen somebody today, nail it from top to bottom," Bryan marveled once the trio closed the song. "You didn’t miss one thing.”

Perry agreed, praising Barrett. “Way to show up, Gaby. You’ve come so far," the pop star said, "I can tell you’re not getting comfortable and that is the key to success.”

Richie has previously shared the stage with Nettles, and while he noted that she frequently helps to lead her duet partner, he also shared his positive remarks on Barrett's collaboration with the country star. “I know exactly what it’s like to sing with Jennifer. You can actually follow the dots. She walks you right through it. It’s one thing to follow the dots, it’s another thing to hit the points,” Richie said, complimenting Barrett on her delivery.

Nettles and Kristian Bush praised her, too, noting on Twitter that they "cannot wait to see all you are going to do with your gifts."
